Jonny Malbon is sailing the 60 foot racing yacht Artemis single-handed, non-stop around the world in the ultimate ocean race, the Vendee Globe. This blog is written by his friends and family.

by timJonny, 34 is based in Cowes on the Isle of Wight. He grew up in Weymouth and has always been in and around boats. Jonny has skippered Artemis for almost two years, joining the boat in 2006. Previously, he sailed round the globe to win the Maxicat Doha challenge, was Boat Captain of Ellen MacArthur's Kingfisher for her famous Route de Rhum victory in 2002 and has helmed a 26' rib across the Atlantic.

BenJonny, hang in there. It will get better more quickly than you could imagine. When you come over here we’ll take you to Central Park boating lake, hire a rowing boat, and spend a few hours relaxing with 0.5cm waves and 3 mph winds, then we’ll grab lunch in the Boathouse Cafe, which will of course include a few ice cold beers. Molly & Tom can’t wait. B
